『Fiji Fantasy Hotel』

Upon arrival, we checked into a newly opened hotel called “Fiji Fantasy Hotel”. As it was still in the process of updating some facilities, the prices were very reasonable. The hotel was conveniently located close to McDonald’s and the city centre, and we were able to see planes taking off and landing from time to time, which was quite exciting. The best part was that there was air conditioning in the rooms, which was much appreciated.

The hotel was owned by a friendly Chinese Fijian couple named William and Vivian, who warmly welcomed us. After resting in our room for a while, we decided to get some food and went to the reception to place an order. To our surprise, there were some Sichuan dishes on the menu, which made Lena very excited. Vivian enthusiastically introduced us to the dishes and even offered us extra food. William and Vivian were so friendly that we ended up chatting with them and getting to know them better. They were truly hospitable!

Fiji Coconut Water

There were coconut trees planted next to the restaurant, and we were excited to see them. After inquiring with William, he immediately asked a local staff to pick some for us. The coconuts were huge, and we quenched our thirst and cooled down right away. William also occasionally took us to the beach or the city, it was so convenient!

Markets in Fiji

Early in the morning, William took us to the Nadi market, where we saw a lot of seafood — no wonder it’s an island country! The prices were also very cheap, and the seafood was large in size. William said he would prepare some good dishes for us to enjoy. We walked around the market area in Nadi and saw all sorts of cuisines available. We came across a souvenir shop and met a female Indian shop owner. While Lena was bargaining, the lady invited us to her home and promised to prepare some delicious food for us. We didn’t immediately accept the invitation as we already had our itinerary planned, but we really wanted to go. Back at the hotel, William mentioned how hospitable Fijians are and warned us that the invitation was probably a scheme to charge us a fee for the food. It’s important to be careful when travelling! After helping to prepare the seafood, we waited eagerly for William and Vivian’s dishes. The aroma of the food was irresistible, and we were excited to taste it. The Sichuan cuisine that William and Vivian prepared was so delicious, and we felt grateful to have experienced such a treat in Fiji. We chatted about Fijian life while enjoying the meal, and it was truly a perfect example of “Fiji Time.
